March 2004 holds the record for the most new car registrations, with March 2014 coming in second place overall, since the change to twice-yearly plate changes in 1999.
More people are now choosing to buy a new car but sales of used cars still greatly outweigh that of new cars sales by a factor of 3 to 1.
As far as fuel goes, there’s good and bad news. The good news is that cars are on average 35% more efficient than they were 10 years ago – the bad news is that pump prices have jumped by over 65% in the period.
